Helping Individuals, couples and families achieve Victory in and through Relationships.
Counselling provided in Afrikaans or English to Adults and Teenagers (12 years and older)
I am also available to provide motivational and educational talks to groups at events for organizations or schools on a number of topics like parenting, communication, emotions and relationships.
Who am I? I am first and foremost a Princess, not by birth, but by adoption into The Royal Family - my crown is waiting for me in Heaven. But while I am still on earth, I am a wife to a loving and caring husband and mother to two beautiful girls. I am also a daughter, sister, aunt, cousin and friend.
I love family, and this is where my passion lies – no matter how “crazy” or messy!! There is no such thing as a perfect life or a perfect family; My life and family is by no means perfect, but we are happy, even though we might drive each other crazy sometimes! We also experience challenges – life gets real and we are constantly aware of how much we need each other in all areas of our lives. It doesn’t mean we’ve got it all figured out – we still make mistakes every day, believe me!
I would love to share with you what I’ve learned on my journey so far and help you to also get closer to achieving victory in all your relationships!
I qualified as a Registered Counsellor and am registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA), after finishing my psychology (BPsych) degree at Stellenbosch University in 2003. I have been working full-time since 2004, starting as a Drug and Alcohol Counsellor at SANCA in Bellville for 3 years. In 2007, I became an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) practitioner at INCON Health in Durbanville, providing counselling to employees at their workplace, travelling all over the Western Cape. After 10 ½ years of working at INCON Health, I finally worked up the courage in 2017 to start my life-long dream of having my own Private Practice in Brackenfell, focusing on my passion, purpose and calling of working with couples and families.
In 2022, I celebrated 5 years of having a successful and well established Private Practice – which is all just pure unmerited favor and grace!
I am also a certified Parent Effectiveness Training (P.E.T.) Instructor, affiliated with Gordon Training International and Parent and Educational Training South Africa. This is the most proven parenting method in the world created by award-winning psychologist and three-time Nobel Peace Prize Nominee, Dr. Thomas Gordon.
Parent Effectiveness Training (P.E.T.) is an intensive 8-week group parenting workshop for parents of children all ages. You will learn practical communication skills that help you become compassionate without being permissive and assertive without resorting to punishment and reward.
What You Will Learn
I will always sign a contract with my clients before we start, so that they are fully informed of the process and are able to give consent before starting the sessions.
With respect for each other and our differences, we can go a long way.
I believe that we are all uniquely made, each one of us with a specific purpose. But what I believe, is not necessarily what you believe. What I do expect in my counselling session, is that we will not judge each other, just because we think or believe differently. Every opinion matters and every person, big or small, deserves an opportunity to be heard, without being judged.
It is not my responsibility to save you, or to change your circumstances… It is my responsibility to guide you and to give you options and tools to use in order to “save yourself”. You will remain the main person responsible for your own change.
I was fortunate to be invited by SABC 3's Expresso Show, to talk about some Parenting issues - please have a look!

Please contact my Virtual Office Administrator:
Annique van der Westhuizen, on email: psychologybookkeeping@gmail.com
phone or whatsapp:
082 440 4993
for fees or availability enquiries.
Sessions are booked in advance. Unfortunately I cannot see unscheduled walk-ins or emergency appointments.
I prefer that appointments be scheduled via email or whatsapp, as I am often unable to answer my phone due to being in consultations.
Hours available for appointments:
Weekdays: 08h00-13h30
Saturdays: 08h00-14h00
Unfortunately no home visits, but I would be available for possible individual counselling and/or group trauma debriefings or life skills training at companies, on-site, if arranged ahead of time – additional travelling costs per kilometer will apply. Please contact me for a formal quotation.
Sessions will normally be 51-60 minutes or 81-90 minutes, depending on availability and need - fees will be charged according to the length of each session. I am registered with The Board of Healthcare Funders of South Africa (BHF p/n 0724718 ) and recognized by most medical aids. I do, however, request that clients pay cash (Credit/Debit card facilities are available) before or directly after each session. I will provide clients with a statement in order for them to claim back the money from their medical aids themselves.
Appointments missed without prior notice or cancelled less than 24 hours before the time of the scheduled appointment may be charged at full rate, should I be unable to fill the time-slot with another client. Please just note that medical aids generally refuse to pay for missed appointments and that you might have to pay for those sessions yourself, even though you have medical aid funds available.
